Zaharias, Mrs Mildred Didrikson (The Babe)
At the 1936 Olympics she created three world records, the 80 m hurdles in 11.3 secs, hurling a javelin 143 ft 4 ins High-jump 5ft 5 .75 inches. She toured as a professional athlete and a profressional golfer. In 1946 she was re-instated as an amateur golfer and eas the first American to win the Ladies Championship which she won in 1947 at Gullane. On arriving back in America she returned to professional golf. Won the American Womens open 1948 Won the Weathervane Womens Open 1950. won All- American Womens professional Championship (Tam O'Shanter) 1950.
